These socks are a collaboration between Big Issue North and Stand4 Socks. 100% of the profits from this collection go towards the vital work Big Issue North do to support people struggling with homelessness and poverty across the north of England. While also still providing a pair to someone in need via Stand4 Socks.
Designed by celebrity artist Stanley Chow, this unique iconic collection is a testament to northern organisations coming together from across Manchester.
Internationally renowned artist and illustrator Stanley Chow was born in 1974 and raised in Manchester by parents originally from Hong Kong. He grew up in a chip shop and says this environment shaped his creativity. “The reason why I am an illustrator is because growing up, the only form of amusement I had was with a biro and chip paper”.
Stan is best known for his portraiture, specialising in images of celebrities from the worlds of music, television, film and sport. A fanatical Manchester United fan, Stan’s love of football is reflected in the many portraits of footballers.

We believe that everyone has the right to earn an independent income. That’s why we do not ask for a permanent address, ID, a bank account, qualifications, or previous experience – anyone who wants to sell The Big Issue can do so.
Big Issue North vendors are self-employed and buy magazines from one of our regional offices for £2 each, then sell them on established pitches in towns and cities for £4 across the north, keeping the £2 they make from every sale. Selling The Big Issue also gives vendors motivation and helps to boost their self-esteem.
Big Issue North Trust is a registered charity (charity number 1056041), which raises funds to provide a range of support for vendors. Learn more about Big Issue North
